The Mühle family has been residents in Glashütte, East Germany for over 700 years. The family company was founded in 1869 by Robert Mühle who began developing and manufacturing time measuring instruments for local factories and the Car industry. They supplied car clocks and speedometers for famous car manufacturers such as Horch, Maybach and DKW.
When the company was expropriated after World War II, it was not until 1990 when the reunification of Germany happened that the fourth generation, Hans-Jürgen Mühle set up the company we now know as ‘Mühle-Glashütte GmbH nautische Instrumente und Feinmechanik’.
Mühle now manufacture high precision marine chronometers and wristwatches, which stand out due to their clarity of display, excellent functionality and high precision. The essence of a Mühle watch is to perform one simple function; measure time accurately and display it clearly. This is what Mühle see as ‘Elementary Time Measurement’.
